This morning Cindy and I walked a loop over some of the trails on the lower part of Rose Hill (7 km and 700 ft elevation gain). We lost the path at a few points and did some minor bushwhacking.
Lots of sagebrush, grasslands and gullies with silt cliffs.

Mount Mara and Mara Canyon
I spent the morning hiking up to the top of Mount Mara. On the way up I followed the trail on the ridge to the east of Mara Canyon, and then scrambled down the ridge to the west of the canyon (approx. 7 km and 2,100 ft elevation gain). This hike passes a lot of hoodoos and other interesting rock formations.

Sunrise Mountain
This hike started at the end of Ronde Lane in Barnhartvale. It was a steep climb most of the way to the top of Sunrise Mountain, then a short bushwhack to GMS Hill. There were great views of Barnhartvale below and along the valley. From Sunrise Mountain, I followed old double tracks through the bush to the top of Pratt Road, and walked along to road back to the car (11 km and 1,900 ft elevation gain).

Hike to Deep Lake ... and other Saturday amusements
This is an experiment to see if I can create a complete post from my phone, since we don't plan on taking a laptop with us on our trip to Bulgaria.
This Saturday morning we went on a 6 km loop hike to Deep Lake, up in the hills behind Westsyde.
After the hike we walked to the Kamloops downtown farmer's market.
This performer was also doing his thing as part of the Downtown Kamloops Merchant's Market this weekend.

Dallas Barnhartvale Nature Park
Still inspired to see something new in our area, we decided to check out the Dallas Barnhartvale Nature Park today. Nice walk, approximately 6 km. and 1,000 ft elevation loss and gain.

Dewdrop Trail
Welcome to our new blog! We created this blog in anticipation of our trip to Bulgaria, but thought it might be a good idea to actually attempt a few posts with our computer before we land in an unfamiliar country with just our smartphones.
Several weeks ago the local paper had an article about two websites featuring hikes in our area. Inspired to see something new, we decided to explore the Dewdrop Trail today, about a 20 km drive from our place.
The trail was roughly 6 km one way with a 2,000 ft elevation gain, and gave us great views of Kamloops Lake.
