Travel day to Niš, Serbia

Today we crossed the border into Serbia. Our first stop was a WWII monument built during the period of the former Yugoslavia. This one has an almost exotic looking style. It commemorates civilians executed by the German army at this spot during the war.

Our destination for today, and our home for the next 3 nights is Niš, Serbia.

Travel day back to Skopje, Macedonia

Today we drove back to Pristina to drop off the rental car, then took a bus back to Skopje, Macedonia, where we left our other rental car. Tomorrow we are driving to Serbia.

Prizren, day 3

The Albanian League of Prizren museum. The museum guide here was super friendly and suggested that we take a different path up to the fortress, so in the afternoon we did exactly that.

A Serbian Orthodox Church in the old town. Because religious & cultural buildings of both Albanians and of Serbs were targets in the Kosovo conflict, most Serbian churches in Kosovo are now guarded or closed for visiting. The guard at this church said we could walk around the outside of the church, but no photography. When he found out we were from Canada, he said "photos okay ... Canada is far away". Presumably we are not a threat after all.

Travel day to Prizren, Kosovo

Today we drove to Prizren. We stopped at the city of Gjakovë along the way and walked through the old bazaar area.

Arrived in Prizren in pouring rain. We saw a little bit of the town going from hotel to lunch, to coffee, to supper and back to the hotel.
